Star citizen prospector5/17/2023 ![]() Losing one or more 60K modules hurts, losing 2000 credit modules doesn't. Or when you claim it from a different location. I tried using passive mining modules like the FLTR series (up to 60K credits per module!) but if your ship gets destroyed they will be lost. I often use 5 or even more charges when I split several asteroids in a cluster (I could split only one rock and pick up lots of inert material or split several and pick up a selection of higher percentage chunks). I can't look up how many charges (5 each) are left (and we can't replenish them), so I take usually take 2 of these modules with me. The ship's mining UI isn't great (too much bloom, overlapping text. Both of these mining modules are consumables but they are cheap (14 credits). When using mining modules I can drink a cup of coffee while mining. You can do it without any mining modules but then it's going to be kind of exhausting work. The surge modules just makes the process of breaking the asteroid (first stage) much faster while the Brandt module is really useful for breaking the asteroid in the second stage (higher Quantainium concentration = higher instability). I'm currently using a Lancet MH1 laser with 1x Surge and 2x Brandt mining modules. I didn't got happy by renting a MISC Prospector because you can't exchange components. You can store loot in the 890 Jump's ship inventory (and take items from there) so you don't have to go back and forth to your ship. ![]() Put the loot in your ship (ship inventory plus physical box storage in cargo bay). You can land the Avenger Titan in the 890 Jump's hangar bay, set your respawn point to the on-board clinic and loot the bodies for their armor and weapons (the P8-SC SMG is a great weapon!) to save money. If you get bored, do a " Boarding Action in Progress" mission (45K). On top of that, the Cutlass has much larger capacitors resulting in having more ammo for the laser repeaters before they have to reload. ![]() If you got the Cutlass black already, you can equip 12 size 3 missiles which speeds up destroying the PDC Monitors by a lot because you don't have to be in the 1.8 km range where you can use the laser repeaters - accelerating and decelerating takes a lot of time. Yeah, it's quite grindy, but you don't risk losing progress as you get the reward immediately. Return to Port Tressler for refueling when you're running low on hydrogen. Use gimballed laser repeaters so ammo won't be a problem. There will be around 4 of these missions and they reappear quite quickly. Stick around MicroTech, do the " Illegal Monitors Detected" missions - they net 20K each for around 2-5 minutes of work (ignore the pirates, just run after you've finished the job). I started with an Aurora MR, got an Avenger Titan (~700K) and a Cutlass Black (~1.35 M) soon after.
